Hi and not sure if you have had any replies to your question? There were some variations made to the '36 Olympia Model which includes the Model 184J which has a 4" barrel. This is based on the Standard Model (Fünfkampf - Pentathlon) which can either have the standard slide or the lightweight which can be chambered for .22 short. I have nothing on the cartridge though no doubt these could have been a specific load for the Olympic event at that time?

Greetings from the Great White North of Northern Michigan. I joined the forum to see if I could get some info on a PP that a friend inherited from his father, who brought it back after WWII. It doesn't look like any pictures of other PPs, more like a Model 9, with no markings other than No. 497, PP and an F above the trigger on the left side.My friend is an old guy like me and mostly computer illiterate, so I agreed to do some research. I'm not sure which thread to post my question to yet. Perhaps you have a suggestion.

Hi, in reply to your query the difference between a Mod 9 and a PP are very distinct. The Mod 9 is a small pocket pistol with a 2” barrel, 6 round magazine for .25ACP. Finish is (as far as I know) chrome. Having just sold one I know this to be not so reliable in my experience. The PP is much larger and heavier with a barrel length of 3.85” and has an external hammer which the Mod 9 does not. Hope this helps and it would be great if you could attach some pictures?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, agreed, a big difference between the pics I've seen of model 9 and PP. The only reason I call it a PP is because that's the way it's marked. As stated there a very few markings. No exposed hammer on this one. I have pics and will attempt to post them here.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I lived in the UP near Marquette during the early 80's. Beautiful country up there.
That is a nice pistol you have. It has a menacing, purposeful look about it. No fancy-lad target pistol there. What caliber round is it chambered in?

Don't know the caliber yet. It belongs to a friend. His father brought it back after WWII. I took photos and am seeing what I can find out about it for him. It has a leather holster and a belt with an eagle over swastika buckle that came with it.

Welcome Jumper!

It's def. neither a PP nor a Walther 1-9. I don't know what it is...

It's probably a French or Spanish "Ruby" pistol: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruby_pistol

'Ruby' is Spain (region). But probably correct.
