147 ammo for competing

I'm a bug fan of Atlanta Arms 147 9mm for USPSA et al. Saw someone write about Stand 1 Armory -P 147s as having really minor recoil. Anyone have any experience with it?

Not that particular ammo but I recently tried Winchester Train and Defend 147 ammo thats supposed to have reduced recoil the other day and I mixed it in between 124 and 115 and it did seem a little lighter on the recoil but not much. It has less muzzle energy and velocity which in turn reduces felt recoil.

Atlanta Arms generally is fairly mild.

I want to say it was the 2016 Florida Open a bunch of folks came over from Jamacia to shoot using the Atlanta Arms ammo (not sure if it was 147's or not) and did not make minor power factor, so in essence wasted their trip.

My point though, is that as I understand it, Atlanta Arms does load so folks are as close to minor power factor as possible, which is hard to do considering all the various guns people can be using. It's a market they know and embrace, so if you chrono with it, I suspect you'd be in the 130-135 pf range. I'd give them a call for more info.

Using that though as a yardstick, can always try the stuff from Stand 1, or ask them what kind of power factor they are making, and what set-up they are using. Since they are advertising "For 3-Gun" where there is no power factor, I'd definitely ask questions. My own load for 3-Gun, had me at about 112-116 PF, which would have went sub minor at any USPSA match, and since they advertise that way, I'd ask first. (I did see they say it makes minor for USPSA, but I'd ask, and test it yourself before you try it at a major match!)

In the 3 gun matches I shoot in the steel targets are set to 125 PF so lighter loads will not take them down.
I load 147 gr Hi-Tek coated cast for these matches with soft recoil and great accuracy out of the 5" PPQ.

Cody Osborne runs 147g Stand 1 chubbies, gets 133 to 135 PF out of Q5. Orr Tactical custom developed a load for the PPQ 5" for me that runs similar PF with a tad higher consistency.

I've been running Orr 147g in my CZs and it is very accurate and fast shooting!

Not 147s as the subject says, but you just asked about loads and not 147g loads.

This is what I use in a 5" M&P, I haven't chrono'ed it in the Q5 yet.

160 gr Coated Bayou Bullet
1.158" LOA
3.2gr Power Pistol
800 fps.
PF 128

Stand1 Armory site states they are going out of business on Sept. 29th, they will fill orders until that date.

Note that the Walther has a very short chamber, and most of these would have to be shortened up in order to plunk & spin in the gun.

Currently I'm running a 125gr TC from black bullet international with 3.8gr of Prima V behind it at 1.120" OAL
