We did the poi thing, but not the others you mentioned. This tour was dedicated to the more mundane island offerings. The food shots are on Wednesday, and on Friday I'll be replicating in the kitchen that Hawaiian food truck classic Garlic Butter Shrimp, complete with step-by-step photos.

Government, in all forms, is just controlled oppression.

People should not be afraid of their government, governments should be afraid of their people. -V

Getting old and cranky in my old age, just like old men are supposed to be.

As I read through this thread and enjoyed all the photos, I thought to myself, "All of that time walking around unarmed, Universal must've felt naked!"

I can't imagine spending so much time in backward, uncivilized places that preclude you from legally carrying appropriate tools for the provision of your own self-defense should you need it. That's ... barbaric!

I will say that I feel rather relieved whenever I do return from traveling abroad, but I'm not going to let the inability to carry deprive me of travel. I just remain vigilant and avoid making stupid mistakes in bad areas.

I usually buy a pocket knife whenever I travel out of the country. Something good enough to feel confident in it if I need to use it, but not good enough so that I feel sorry about throwing it in a trash can when I hit the airport on the way back.

Good thing I had a big steak tonight, might have been hungry after seeing that. My dessert was blueberry pie.
