Walther side by side shotgun in 16 gauge

I have this Walther sbs I picked up at auction thought you guys may be interested in seeing it ...it was made in April 1940 and is one of if not the last ever made by Walther with a four digit serial number so not many were made it also has Nazi era proof marks and east German proofs finally proofed in the UK in the near past it's got the gunsmith details it went to then a strange mark on The stock that looks like a stahlhelm with letters underneath it would deffo have been owned by a high ranking Nazi official who then wangled another job in the sov block after the war due to civvies being banned from owning guns in both eras hope you enjoy looking at it and if any info out there I'd be Interested to know

Finally another Walther SxS is posted. Can't make out much detail from the dark and unfocused images you posted. With an April 1940 date, it should have a serial number in the late 2600s or perhaps early 2700. We have recorded production in July and November of 1940, so it is not the last. Can't tell from your image of the receiver what model it is or features it has. And couldn't make out the stock marking you were talking about. As to the "East German proofs"? Perhaps it was appropriated by one of the official shooting clubs, then later released for commercial sale after the reunion of Germany? Tough to tell. Would like to see the proofs.

Here is a link to earlier posting on Walther shotguns. I had some earlier that I deleted because of a lack of response/interest.

Hi guys thanks for the the reply I was starting to think there wasn't any more of these guns out there due to the lack of info out in the www apologies about the pics but I am to photography what Stevie wonder is to clay pigeon lol the serial is 2696 and IM wondering on the value of this piece im a Brit veteran who is sadly disabled now and got into buying and restoring guns to a) keep me sane b) to earn a modest living and c) to try and rescue some poor unloved guns that are being destroyed due to piss poor maintenance by previous owners I found this at an auction house on the Queen's estate in Sandringham Norfolk in England and paid approx 95 for it I believe they overlooked the rarity of it anyway enough of my waffle here's a few more pics
Regards john

That's for sure. The last Walther shotgun I saw on Simpson's was $1,200. There's a sxs 16 gauge on Gunbroker right now with a BIN of $850.
