Is the PPS being abandoned?

I keep seeing low prices of $279 or $299 from a few different vendors (in Ohio)...has Walther given up on this pistol?

I believe that Walther said it would continue to sell the PPS under the model name Classic. They could have changed their mind. I have seen price specials on the PPSM2 that were great bargains over the street price so a price drop is not necessarily a sign of a gun being discontinued. My guess is that some dealers anticipate a drop in demand for the original PPS because of the acceptance of the M2. Eventually an older version gun loses market demand. The sellers know that and might just be depleting Inventory in anticipation.

The market for slim standard capacity magazine poly pistols like the PPS, Shield, an XDS is very competitive and the newer ones like the P365 and Glock 43X and 48 are intensifying that keeping pricing low. Hopefully Walther will be coming out with an upated version of the PPS to compete with the newer models that have higher capacity.

I think the pps m1 would have been a much better seller if Walther would have just stuck with it. I love mine and think with more advertising it would have sold more than the shield or Glock 43.

The PPS gets very high reviews by whomever touches it. And I don’t think I have ever heard a bad thing about it. Certainly love mine. I would be surprised if it was discontinued but I am not some insider with sales info but doesn’t it fill a somewhat unique niche in the Walther lineup? A true compact 9mm?
And Classic? Guess I didn’t realize it had out for so long.

The PPS Classic was unique and ahead of it's time when it came out.

The M2...not so much. Yadda yadda, they stuck an optic on it...biggity boo.

If they do drop it, expect it to be replaced by the "innovative" CCP, so derived from it, at least.

Meanwhile me and my BD code Classic will not soon be parting ways.

Yes, that's exactly what the attached screenshot from the current web site says.
