in the first disassembly pic, how did you knock out the slide stop pin? I've tried banging on mine with a hammer and a punch, and it just won't budge

Same here, I hit it pretty hard and it didn't budge a bit.

Edit, it sucks to get all ready to do the complete clean and then get stopped on step one.

the slide stop catch must must be raised slightly.
