So a Manurhin PP with serial number 51773 Swedish police version would have been made in 1956-57? Just wondering if it is the same serial number range as the Walther model...

Yes, the chart applies to both Manurhin PP's and Walther branded PP's that were premanufactured at Manurhin.

Dating a 1965 PPK 9mm

Hello could someone please give me a reference the California DOJ would accept to prove a Walther PPK 9mm is produceded in 1965. I am at a loss. there is a faint 65 in the barrel.

Hi, PP serial #17523 (.380 auto) seems to be from +- 1952 if I look at the records available, although the record seem to only indicate 7.65mm. Would my assumption be correct? My grandfather bought it new and handed it down to me with original box and manuals

Introduced in 5/54 (#10001A => 9mm kurz = .380). Why do you think, the gun was made +/- 1952? There is no record available from what I know. Imo you've mixed up some information you've found regardless of caliber, serial postfixes and helpful details.

You may take some good, detailed pics, especially proof marks (!), to help us to help you...

The "65" proof date stamp inside the ejection port is actually on the frame and shows the PPK was manufactured in 1965. I'd ask the CA DOJ folks what they need for documentation.

Indeed purely my assumptions based on pieces of information. S/N 17523A made in Ulm and has a "eagle over N" sign on the grip, on the barrel and frame.

#244xxA was made in 1967 (a fact I know about ). So arithmetically ~14500 guns were made between 1954 and 1967. A question your pics don't depict is: Is there anything else except eagle/N on the barrel seat visible thru ejection port (=> an antler and a two digit date code)? This date code was introduced in 3rd quarter of 1961. If there is no proof date, I would suspect 1960/61, not earlier.

Vielen dank Martin. There are no digits next to the antler on the barrel.
