Austrian P.38

I picked up a post war P.38 to blank adapt for WWII reenacting so I can retire my byf43.

I thought I was buying a P.38 German p1/p38 but the one I got is steel frame with an Austrian BH above the trigger.

There are no dates and only a worn Walther banner on the slide. Is there any way to date this pistol?

Does this one have any value or is it generic enough to be used and abused?

Any input is much appreciated.

With the pics you posted, I think it may have been a Heerespistole, wartime but the commercial version of the P38. Wish you had not covered the serial, that side may have an Eagle/N visible, and if it matches, the slide will have the same serial number on the top near the front bridge. After the war, these like any other captured or confiscated P38 were put into Austrian service.

It's a 4 digit serial number, I assumed it was re-numbered.

Here are some of the other markings. The one does look similar to an Eagle N.

Interesting, the barrel is a postwar one, those are postwar German proofs. It is a mix of the eras, ie for most people not a collector item, just a shooter. What means are you pursuing for making it a blank firer?
