Post War Walther P1 Correct Grip Codes

I have several P1ís all from the 79ís, and had replaced some grips, some not and ordered other replacements. Now Iím not sure which belongs to which. I see various codes inside the grips. How can I tell replacements from original?
Canít find any info in my various Walther books showing internal markings on grips.
Appreciate help.

I think you are the only person who has ever posted on this forum expressing concern about this issue.

Realistically, what difference can it make? If the grips are postwar, and standard OEM, they all look absolutely alike externally. If the same manufacturer's symbol is inside on both the left and right grips of an otherwise absolutely matching P1 that has never been rebuilt, how can anybody tell if the grips are not "original"?

I'd rather worry about things that are consequential.

I must confess ignorance here. Never heard of this.

Are these ďgrip codesĒ on post-war pistols actually understandable to lay people and supposed to be ďmatchableĒ to guns? As Mike says, this hasnít come up.

I'm kinda hoping there is info out there for this.

Can't possibly hurt to learn something new about a pistol we all love.
