Yeah . . . I looked it up and it is indeed a heavy weapon at over ten pounds empty and probably a lot worse with twenty or thirty rounds of also heavy .45 ACP in the magazine. A very good friend of mine who flew Hueys had one in Vietnam and he absolutely loved it. But, then, he didn't have to lug his around the jungle all day.

My Dad brought this home in 1963, said he always wanted "a nice little .22", it's turned out to be a superb revolver. Can't even speculate how many pounds of lead have been put through it.

The original wood handles wore off, so I replaced them with ivory.

This is the second gun I bought, more years ago than I care to remember. It cost $75 at the time. It's a Reid's "My Friend" 7-shot knuckleduster in .22 caliber and is in remarkable shape.

I had to find out more about this one so I did a quick Google.

Up my sleeve? Well, the sleeve is definitely the right spot for the Reid's "My Friend" knuckleduster, but it won't accommodate the Remington.

It's a New Model .44 Army, with a patent stamp of 1858, made at the Remington plant in Ilion, New York. (It still amazes me that a state that helped produced America's firearms heritage has become so rabidly anti-gun.) My father bought the gun for $15 in the late 1940s, and it came to me when he passed. My mother told me that she was angry with him at the time because they didn't have an extra $15 to spend on something as frivolous as an old army pistol.
