My research has led me to conclude that the Vit Zimanek are about the best of the lot for looks, fit and function.

The stock post war black plastic P.38-P.1-P.4 grips are functional and fit well, but give up a bit of panache.

I also ordered up some Altamont grooved walnut grips in the Heerspistole style that fit very well, but I have not had them to the range yet.

So, bottom line, if you want the look of the WWII red brown plastic grips, go with Vit Zimanek.
