Default Just bought my first P88...

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I just purchased a P88 from a recent GB auction and had a few questions about it. The gun serial number is in 8,000 range. I had read in the forum about cracked frames. I pulled the grips off and the frame is clean. Are there any specific areas I should be looking for frame damage? I doubt if the gun has 200 rounds through it. Are there any extra parts I should keep on hand? Any recommendations as far as ammo. My duty ammo is 124gr Gold Dot. I routinely carry 147gr Black Talons in my other off-duty guns. Is this OK to shoot in the P88? Thank you for your help.

I'm a newbie myself, but congrats on your gun. From what I've been reading here, examine behind the mag release and up to the rails.

I have looked at numerous P-88's and never seen or heard of cracked frames until that thread

my only advice is not to carry a P-88 they are too collectable, with the exception of some highly collectable wartime walthers and/or some pre-war walthers these are in demand

all modern pistols and rifles have had metal stress issues,
