Yeah, I would buy a clean low mileage P5c (already own a P5 from new purchased about 1984/85) if the prices weren't so stupid and I could find one here in Kalifornia---you can't ship them in---not on the "safety list". Neat lttle pistols---wish Walther would make a P5c here in USA with a poly frame---oh well, I have a PPS 9mm, but it just isn't the same.

What really threw me off of going any higher than I did in the bidding on this one was that after looking at the less than spectacular pics, it appeared that part of the markings may have rubbed away. There were also two suspicious 'marks' just under the serial # on the left side of the slide. After I called and spoke with the seller, he did say that part of the 'W' end of the banner was pretty faint - almost polished off. I know the Walther banner markings on my P5Cs are pretty deep, and you'd have to take a fair amount of metal off to erase them. And also, the two marks under the serial # were, in fact, not camera smudges, but, according to him, "look like pieces of material that have been added". Curious.
I agree that it's most likely very structural sound and will be a great shooter, although I'm not sure you can judge this in any real measure based on the condition of the grips. They could have easily been changed/replaced later. But the barrel did appear to be in pretty good shape, although I did not see the inside. In any event, I hope that the purchaser is happy with it. |
