Brand new SP22

I am new to this forum, I bought my first Walther this weekend at a local gun show. Its a SP22 M3. Got home, shot 10 rounds out of it, worked like a champ. Next day, shoot with a few buddies, after about 40 shots it wouldnt fire anymore. Cleaned it, tried again (crappy ammo maybe?), still wouldnt shoot. It stayed cocked, wouldnt ever fire, dry fire, no nothing. Sent it back to walther this morning, has anybody had any issues concerning this. I tried adjusting the sear as well, still nothing.

As you've already discovered ...

SP22 wont fire

... this seems to be the norm. A trip to Maine, and then a deep and permanent corner of the gun safe, may be the best solution of all.

Ive heard so many good things about Walthers, at the time I thought how could i go wrong. Wish i had done some research on this before the buy, definately would have gotten a p22 instead.

The problem is that Walther is not the manufacturer of the SP22 series (nor does it make the P22 and the PK380 pistols). These guns are made by Umarex, Walther's parent company, an air soft/pellet pistol operation in Koln. Outside of the Walther name/banner, you were buying a toy on steroids. Sad but true.

If you want a Walther made .22 caliber target pistol, get yourself a PP Sport. You'll pay three times as much, but you'll gain 30 times the quality.

Well, ive gotten my sp22 back. Shot about 200 rounds through it today, jammed once. No problems. I dunno what might have been wrong with it, but when i got it back, broke it down and it looked like they replaced just about every internal so. Works great now, we will see how long it lasts.

Good to hear, redchief. Your story reminds me of the guy who slipped and fell from a 50-story office building. On the way down, as he passed each window, the people inside the building could hear him saying, "So far, so good. So far, so good." The advice on the PP Sport still stands, by the way. It's an excellent target pistol ... the real deal.

Gotta clean it

Hey guys, There are 2 things that can cause this. 1 is trash in between the frame and the trigger mechanism (you can see it real well with the slide & grip off) You should see light in between but mine is always full after 50 to 75 shots. 2 is the final stop "set screw" adj for your trigger. Mine has screwed itself out (after 2000 shots) and caused it to not fire. After finding this "fault" in the trigger mech and keeping it clean, I have had no other problems. Sucks that its only good for 75 shots then it has to be torn down and cleaned.
