P22 hammer spring is protruding below the hammer

The hammer spring on my P22 is sticking out approximately 1/16" past the rear of the slide, below the hammer. It's sharp and it does not seem that this part should be protruding at all.

Any ideas on what happened and how I can fix it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I noticed that on my P22 as well as my PK380. It might just be part of the design. I haven't noticed where I feel it when holding or shooting the guns though.

Gun control isn't determined by laws but by paper. The tighter the grouping the better the gun control.

Normal. Both pistols share the same spring. It should not stick out past the housing and jab you. Do not grind it off as that may cause the lower leg to slip over the frame. If that happens......neither pistol will fire until completely disassembled and a new spring installed. M1911
