Walther Olympia Sportmodell .22lr

As i say in my presentation, here is the first of 3 Walther rifles I buy in Germany recently. The serial number is 29271W and the seller say the rifle is a 1936 modell. I will take more photos tomorrow and send they in this thread. Has anyone more informations about this rifle ?
Thanks in advance and hello from France !

Your rifle is the Meisterbuchse rifle with the Olympiaschafte, or Olympic style stock. This was Walther's second best target rifle. The recoil pad is not original, but otherwise it is a fine old target rifle. It is especially nice that it has the optional (and seldom encountered) diopter rear sight. That sight is very hard to find, and took me almost 20 years to acquire. What a nice find! Vraiment, un bon chance! KK

Very nice rifle.

I have one similar, but without the diopter sight, 31736W.

I agree: the Meisterbuchse is a wonderful rifle: I have three of them. But the "Top of the Line" Walther target rifle was the Olympia Sonderausfuhrung rifle, which was essentially a Meisterbuchse with a thumbhole stock with hooked butt plate and better sights. It sold for $250 in 1939! See the 1939 Stoeger Shooter's Bible page 49, and also Manfred Kersten's book, "Walther: A German Legend" pages 292 and pages 294-295. I have never even seen a Sonderausfuhrung in person, but we collectors live on hope...

Whaouuu You mean this one.... In this case we need more than hope , but as you said, nobody can say what will happen in a may be near future.... (picture is from here : Walther Sportsmodell...)

In a first look, the complete mecanism seem to be the same than ours. What is your opinion ? tj
