Walther Sportmodell Rifle Meisterbuchse 22LR

Good Morning

OK lets see if I can describe my dilemma. I have the rifle above loved it till the firing pin broke. I have since had a friend (a wizard with heli arc) who put a piece of metal back in. What I need are measurements/dimensions. I don't have the piece that broke out so I've got some fitting to do to say the least. I added a picture with the area to be worked. Anyway if I can get someone to send a picture or dimensions I can work off of, I'd deeply appreciate it. May part it out reluctantly if I can't fix the firing pin.

Thank you

John

Wow...didn't know those pre-war parts were so hard to find. I'll have to be careful with my GECO DSM-34.

I don't know if he can help but Bob Simpson (simpsonltd.com) has more Sportmodells than could fit in my house. You might give him a call for advice...

Did you get specs on the firing pin for your Sportmodell V?

John,

I have a Sportmodell V that my Dad gave me. The firing pin was homemade and didn't always work. I had a gunsmith look at it and he somehow melted my firing pin. I guess it was made of the wrong kind of steel. Anyway, I need a firing pin. Were you able to get specs for that? I would really like to be able to fire that rifle again.

Thanks,

Brad Tanner

You both should write to Walther Germany and let the folks there know what you need. You also could try Earl Sheehan at Earl's Repair Service, though if he had the parts in question, you would probably need to take out a second mortgage on your homes to pay for them.

Contact information for both are included in the Sticky in the P99 sub-section, Great Sites for Walther Lovers ...

Good luck.

Sportmodell V

Hello John and others,

I just purchased a Sportsmodell V and I'd be happy to make a drawing of the firing pin and post it for you guys, I just need someone to tell me how to disassemble the bolt. I played with it a little bit the other night but didn't want to force anything.

With my machinist background and the measuring tools I have available I can make a detailed drawing. I'll even test the hardeness of the pin, if I get the bolt apart.

Regards, Al

I don't really remember how it comes apart, but I feel confident saying that you'll need to begin with the bolt in the rifle and the striker cocked. Turn the safety lever straight up to 12 o'clock and then remove the bolt from the rifle. I don't remember if you have to rotate the bolt handle to de-cock it or not; but at some point the safety lever has to be turned to about 4-o'clock, and then everything falls apart.

Firing pin pictures

I have pictures of both sides of my firing pin, can someone tell me how to post them here? Or give me your e-mail and I'll send to you for posting!

The pin has a hardness of RC 22/28 depending where you check it. It seems to be harder near the loaded chamber indicator and RC 22 just behind the round part of the firing pin.

Regards, Al

There is no loaded chamber indicator. The rear of the pin merely shows if it's cocked. The parts of the firing pin that are spot-hardened are the sear notch and the safety cam surfaces, which can be seen from heat-treatment discoloration.
