Exclamation PPS vs. XDS

Sponsored Links
I own a PPS .40 in OD Green and I do love it. I also just purchased the new Springfield XDS in 45acp, and I must tell you this gun is awesome. It comes with two 5 round magazines, but there are 7rounders available. Believe it or not it is almost exactly the same size of our beloved PPS with 45acp fire power. On the range the recoil was less harsh than the PPS, and follow up shots were easier. I am impressed with the quality of the little 45, and I guess I just got myself another carry option.

Just thought I would share, and if there are any question let me know.

I was very interested in this, wish you had a PPS 9 to compare the XDs with. I may have to give it a second look. Is the XDs w/ 7rnd mags the same overall size as your pps w/ 7rnd mag ? If not can you get us some pics

With the 7 round magazine inserted the guns are basically identical in size. I will work on some pics. I recommend you head to your LGS and check it out.

The XDS is a downgrade in every conceivable way. Not saying it's bad, but yea.

Whith all due respect, how is a XDS.45 acp a down grade to the PPS? The PPS is not offered in .45 acp. I don't own, nor have I held/shot a XDS but to call it a down grade, with no actual, factual evidence I think is a stretch to say the least.

Was looking into the XDs until I saw the capacity, that's borderline scary to me, personally. If it suits your needs however, that's excellent! Two fine pistols by two fine manufacturers, for sure

.45 always seems to be a softer shooter in comparable pistols for some reason, interesting interesting

I'm very interested in the XDS.... When it comes out in 9mm I'll pick one up most likely.

The only downgrade would be ammo capacity. Springfield makes outstanding firearms.

If I have 8 in my pps and 7 in an XDs it's a close call, I do however perfer all the +s of a 9mm over the others. I wouldn't mind having another toy to use up some of my 45 ammo that's just collecting dust

Well, you do give up the PPS'S superior magazine latch, I suppose.

And while I like the XDs design (and the XD line in general) ... it should be noted that Springfield Armory Inc. is an importer ... not a manufacturer. On the other hand, since the XDm I've been of the opinion that SAinc is directing production at the HS factory in Croatia, not just along for the ride but driving instead these days.
