PPS Failures Galore!!!!!
Hi Folks...
Just purchased my second PPS slightly used 09 model. I have another one just like it that has been nothing short of perfect. This one however is abysmal. I just fired it for the first time today ....two no feeds, two complete jam stoppages, and the bolt stayed back on an empty mag only once. I'm really confused...I do notice the recoil spring fits very loolsely. Unlike my Glocks. Is this normal? Any thoughts as to what might be causing the problems? Same Winchester ammo I used flawessly thru my other PPS. Since this is my CC weapon...I'm bummed and certainly don't trust it to save my life. Any help appreciated.... Mark Franklin TN |

If it were me, I'd be inclined to experiment a bit. First thing I'd do is take the recoil spring from the PPS that functions properly and put it in the troubled PPS and see if it functions properly. If it does, you have isolated the problem. You may also want to see if the troublesome PPS' slide stays back if you use the functioning PPS magazines. Sorry you have problems.

Agreed...you have the advantage of a good pistol to swap parts from...The prior owner may have done something strange...so much for the bargain price!!

I'm with hakuin. Sounds like the previous owner bunged it up as good as he could and then unloaded it when he decided that he couldn't make it any worse. If your other PPS works properly, start with the mags from that one and see if that makes a difference. I'd also look at ammo selection.

As a person who suffered through a similar process with a NEW "2009". My suggestion is to contact S & W CS and see if they'll still honor the warantee! My experience with my PPS ended up with them replacing it with a new one.
That is the reason I own 3 HK P2000 SK (2 new & 1 used) and only one PPS! After trying to replace the SK with a PPS, I learned my lesson and couldn't resist the next two SKs.

The HK P2000 SK is a superb pistol. But it is rather "fat" when compared to the PPS.

![]() Yes, that why I first tried the PPS. Summer here in Nevada a Fat pistol tends to carry more weight on my shorts! Note my snow white legs blinds the BG first to give me the advantage! ![]() Two of the SKs are in .357 Sig which is the 9mm I perfer. The 9mm SK is my range gun. If the PPS was to introduce a .357 Sig that could get me to try another one. So for now the 9mm PPS is for when I need to slim down and not wear loose shirts. Once you get a PPS that eats everything you feed them they're a great weapon. Mine eat Ranger T-Series +P (125 gr) as well as Gold Dots +P.

Sounds like you've discovered why the other guy sold it. Bummer.

So, there is a problem with the 09s?
