where was my PPS manufactured

O.K. everyone, exactly how does this Smith and Wesson thing work? Was my PPS actually manufactured in Germany then just shipped to America where Smith stamped their name on the slide? Or were the parts manufactured in Germany and shipped to Smith for them to assemble?

I wonder why Walther quit handling them exclusively in this country? Have new laws been enacted restricting handgun imports?

This may be another newbie stupid question, but I cannot find any information on this.

Your Walther PPS was designed, developed, manufactured and shipped from Walther's production facility in Ulm, Germany. The new facility was built in 2005. S&W is the importer and service contractor for Walther.

Walther Arms has never pushed hard into the US market so the agreement with S&W was used instead of building a manufacture plant here the US such as companies like HK in Newington, New Hampshire and Glock in Smyrna, Georgia.

That Wiki entry is misleading and has lead to several posts. Radom, in Poland, has a contract to produce PPS's and P99's from Walther. They are stamped "Radom" on the slide and are not available for U.S. import.
