I had a sore trigger finger when firing my 40 PPS which I finally traced to a sharp slightly raised edge on the magazine release (where it lies next to the trigger guard.) A few strokes with fine sandpaper fixed it, but I recall thinking at first that my finger was being pinched between the trigger and guard. I have a PPQ which did this as well. By then, I knew what the problem was right away.

Shot my PPS for the third time. It is the trigger. Maybe the trigger is smaller than others and the safety has too much pressure pushing forward. When I pull the trigger I can see my finger connecting with the raised trigger safety.
The only reason I can think of is when I pull the trigger maybe my finger slides as the trigger goes back and that creates the friction on the finger causing discomfort. Plus the tip might be pushing into my finger. It is not a pinch. Like I stated in an earlier post, I hope this will smooth out. Maybe I will look into a P99AS instead of the PPQ for this reason. |

I also have had soreness from shooting the PPS.
I compared the trigger to my PPQ and notice it is thinner and the central safety piece much thinner than on the PPQ. I don't want to call it "sharp" but suspect that is the source of the trouble.

I just saw the video from FAQ: P99 that TANFOGLIO made: Sticky: TRIGGER VARIATION QA-AS-99Q-PPQ
It could also be the PPS is smaller and thinner than the guns we are use to that my finger actually meets the safety at the distal phalanx just before the first joint. In other words I am pressing the trigger with bone instead of the meaty part since my finger is going further around the grip. I sure hope it smooths out. |

PPS finger pinch
I have talked to Walther Arms about my new PPS They told me to send it to them for adjustment it seems to me the safety trigger kicks back just enough for safety trigger to slap my finger I have a trigger finger full of tiny bruises and I'm a carpenter lol

Pinch problem solved.
I fixed the problem with pinching and general discomfort in shooting the gun my Walther. I traded it for a SIG...awaiting flames. I would have bought a P99 if it had been available. I still have my beloved PK380 and will get a P99 as soon as I can. At least I exposed problem and helped generate interest and a little enthusiasm. Thanks for all the ideas, but I just could not bring myself to apply sand paper to my gun.

Well, that is one way to fix it. I don't think anyone in their right mind will disagree that you need to be comfortable with the firearm. And I can't blame you for not wanting to take sandpaper to it, I wouldn't either. No flames here
At least you are sticking with other Walthers! Best of luck with your other walther purchases and thanks for bringing the topic up. |
