I didn't notice this with the PPS I had, but I can certainly say that my original 1st generation P99 did cause a sort of pinch. I don't know if this had to do with the torgue of the gun when firing and it squeezed part of your finger between the trigger and the raised "ski slope" type hump at the bottom of the trigger guard, but my new P99 without that hump does not irritate my finger.

Also, the HK P30 does the same thing and has a rough split trigger guard sort of design that is very irritating during shooting. I think these sound different from what appears to be some kind of trigger slap from the safety mechanism in the trigger?

Well I greased everything that moved that belonged with the trigger, from the front of the gun to the back it helped alot. The discomfort is still there BUT not nearly as bad, when dry fired... Now I just need to go to the range. This we some time this week, I keep you all posted
Pull the slide off and cock and fire the gun and watch what moves and grease behind the parts that touch each others. it helped it helped alot

I have a P30 and I have NO IDEA what you are referring too. If you are placing your finger on the front of the trigger guard, GET IT THE HECK OFF OF THERE! Incorrect grip.

This is a known issue among many shooters and has been noted by owners and reviewers including Massad Ayoob and gunsmith Bruce Gray who will recontour the lower trigger guard. Obviously, this has nothing to do with the front of the trigger guard.

You said the new owner doesn't have the pinch issue and loves the pistol. It sounded like you concluded it was really a case of you and the pistol that didn't get along, right? I'm glad you could work that out and sorry that the PPS didn't work out for you.
Correct, I did trade it and the new owner has it has his carry weapon. He was aware of the "pinch" issues, but shrugged it off when I explained it to him. He took it to the range the day he got it from me and shot a box through it like it was nothing. I guess it's possible it bothered me more than others because I'm a lefty, but who knows.

Sorry if I came off a bit gruff about it, but some here obviously never experienced the sting I was getting every time I pulled the trigger and seemed to make light of it. At first I kind of laughed about it and thought it was my imagination, then kept firing with it never going away. I still want a small single stack 9mm, so now am keeping my eye out for a S&W 3913.

I recently purchased a PPS - shot it at the range without issues. After getting it home, I opted to change to the larger handle back. Later when shooting, I noticed the soreness of my trigger finger - either from rubbing on the release or due to contact of the trigger point. I noticed that with the larger handle back, my palm was being pushed up and back, putting my trigger finger more at an angle downward. With the smaller back, my finger is more in-line with the barrel....and doesnt straddle the trigger point or rub.

Nothing's perfect.

My brand new PPS hurt my trigger finger, too, after firing almost 200 rnds. None of my other guns have that trigger safety, though. Guess, what? I plan to develop a small callous there on my finger after breaking this gun in through regular dry fire and range shooting. I'm not going to be looking for another gun because this is dang near the ideal summer carry gun for me (all things considered). Smaller than this would be too small for me. It's slim, accurate, and it's reliable. I know still too early to tell, but right out of the box I was expecting a few FTFs or SOMETHING. Narry a problem with fmj or 124gr +P jhp. Mild recoil, too. Not a perfect gun, but I'm not going to waste my time trying to find something better. By the time someone else finds something better I will have put hundreds of rounds through my PPS and it will be my little buddy.

PPS Trigger Bite

I bought a new PPS 40 yesterday and put about 40 rounds through it today. And I have the trigger bite problem as well. I see the problem as a limited amount of space between the end of the trigger and the trigger guard. If I reposition my finger so as to not have as much "meat" hanging over the problem goes away somewhat. There is still some slap from the recoil though.

In general the triggers on these Walther’s are in my opinion terrible, much heavier than they truly need to be. Of course I am a little spoiled by the trigger on my Colt Python.

I like my little P22 but it also has what I would call a heavy trigger for such a small pistol. Pulling though DA feels like two pieces of rough metal together.

A pistol needs to be comfortable to shoot, even a CCW because you need to practice with it. If it not comfortable then you will tend not to want to practice.

If I cannot work through this I will be selling this PPS and looking for an alternative CCW.

So why not carry the Python? Beyond the obvious 15 pounds of metal in your pocket ...

The trigger on the PPS generally always loosens up nicely after a few hundred rounds. Give it some range time and have some fun while you're out there.

My trigger finger gets irritated after I shoot the Pps also. It seems to come from loading the magazine then I feel it when the trigger safety hits the sore spot during the recoil. The Pps magazines are the hardest ones to load of all the ones I have used. The double stack Mag's are a lot easier to load. Next trip to the range I will either change the way I insert the bullets or wear gloves to load then see if the trigger still iritates my finger.
