What is your carry ammunition?
While I am sure this question has been asked already, at the risk of being redundant, I will ask once more.
What is your carry round for your PPS? My wife and I both have a 9mm PPS and our carry ammunition is Winchester bonded 124 grain+p JHP (PDX1). Shoots very well and is quite accurate. I trust it fully as a self defense round. R

Hornady Critical Defense 115 gr.
Good reviews, good feeding, not +p, engineered for expansion in a wide range of velocities, and not likely to be plugged by clothing or other |

I stay away from hand loads, and the super man killer extraordinaire rounds.
in case the worst should happen, a prosecutor could make it look like you were aiming to kill someone, or you would not have been carrying such super man mangling bullets, sad but it's a fact. I carry two different rounds, the first is an elcheapo walmart plain ball ammo round, and if that doesn't stop the aggressor the next rounds are a common good quality jacketed hollow point. several brands are available. I think it would look better in court if your first round was not a man killer type round. |

An interesting philosophy. I want my first shot to kill him.

the 1st doesnt have to kill them, if it will be followed up by #2,3,4,5,6 as fast as possible, or until they hit the ground.
it's really hard to get sued by a corpse. funny story, I was in a CC class and they actually recommended you fake a heart attack, and get taken away in an ambulance, this gives you time to calm down and collect your thoughts before the cops start questioning you. |

All my classes (Firearms Academy of Seattle) always taught us not to say a word to law enforcement unless your attorney was present. Regardless of the circumstances of the shooting. Sage advice, IMO.

As far as saying you want to kill them....that is not wise, not because the "corpse" could sue...
"To stop the threat." It means what you are trying to say but is a more politically correct term. Now-a-days depending on where you live there are several instances where self-defense and offense are questioned.... That having been said, I have never heard/read of an instance in which the type of ammunition used was evidence against an individual.....and I doubt that they will look into the fact that one uses self defense hollow points for self protection. ?. To the OP, Hornady TAP 147gr. |

I suppose what I am trying to say in my own fumbling way is, if (God forbid) I am forced to use deadly force, then when I shoot at someone I am trying to kill them up and until they stop trying to kill me or whoever I am trying to protect. R

wow, sounds like another thread started somewhere in the original thread here....
I use Speer Gold Dot 124 grain. It was recommended to me when I first got into CCing, it feeds reliably. |

"shoot to stop" is a simple concept, how about not de-railing the thread with it again
"what ammo" is asked pretty frequently, the most important thing I'll put in is to test out a wide selection of quality expanding ammo and keep track of what works and what doesn't - the PPS is a very small pistol and can be a bit picky with ammunition, and limiting yourself to only one brand/style is just plain stupid, prices and supply can change. I stock: Speer Gold Dots (mostly 124grain+P, although I keep a few 115 grain standard pressure boxes handy) Federal EFMJ Win PDX Hornady, both squishy-ball (FTX?) and regular HP ... and I stock up when I encounter a deal on those, I've really lucked into some deals on LE boxes of Speer Gold Dots at local shows, and I almost never buy the 20-round chump boxes, and you shouldn't either, they're a rip-off and buying them just tells the manufacturers that they're a viable way to pump up profits with overpriced ammo. Fearing the prosecutor is a pretty lousy reason to make your ammunition less effective, your goal is to shoot to stop, not appease some imaginary boogeyman of a prosecutor. If the prosecutor is enough of a clown to trot out the "designed to kill" trope, he will respond to your ball ammo with the question "did you just want to teach the victim a lesson and maim them?" You can't beat that prosecutor's nonsense ahead of time, stop worrying about the idiot lawyer and worry about stopping a threat as quickly as possible with the least collateral damage possible
