The trigger isn't connected to the barrel lock or the take down lever so the only thing I can think if is that the motion frees the spring or lock from whatever is grabbing it.
You could try a very tiny drop of lube in the barrel lock chamber but only a tiny one.

And yes I'd still call Ft Smith about the issue.

Thanks for the help olsoul, I'll call Walther in the morning and give them a full rundown on what's up, all of my other guns are old steel hand-me-downs, this is my first brand new handgun, and my first Walther, so I think I'll let that support that comes with the name come to my aid on this one. I also know a gunsmith nearby, maybe if it's not necessary to mail it in, they can give me detailed instructions for a gunsmith to check the issue out.

Question UPDATE

This thread is probably cold by now, but just as an update I contacted Parts/service in AR and they emailed me a Fedex 2 day label, I sent it out on Monday. Anyone know what the turnaround is these days?

I'm not sure but I wouldn't expect it to be very long.

Thanks. Just as a not so interesting side note, I had ordered 2 extra 15 round magazines, they arrived yesterday, one is identical to the 2 that came with the weapon, but the other, also a 15 rounder, has a fat moulded pinky rest on it, they both have the same Item # and the same bar code numbers. I wonder if they stopped producing one design and replaced it with the other? I considered it a pleasant little surprise. Bought them from GrabaGun, they seem to have the best price.

I don't think so. It has 15 peep holes and I could only load 15 in the magazine just now. I googled the 17 round magazines and I see what you're saying. Maybe they just ran out of the 15 round base plates that day on the assemble line.
