Amazing sights designed specifically for the PPQ

Sponsored Links
Hi all,

I normally don't post on forums, however I got custom sights made by Dawson Precision (www.dawsonprecision.com Home Page) which makes competition and tactical sights.

The people at Dawson have amazing customer service, they agreed to make these sights for me and waive the custom charges in return for using my PPQ slide to design the sights.

I was originally quoted 2 months for the entire process (design, manufacturing, sending out to Trijicon for tritium tube install and sight installation), however it took 3. Why? Because when they setup the rear sight they decided they didn't like the way it looked and redesigned the whole rear sight! These people are perfectionists!

They also included a fiberoptic front sight and a sight installation tool (I'm not sure if this is standard or because I had to wait a month).

The sights are the "charger" design for the rear (so I can rack it on belts, holsters, etc) and a tritium front. The rears are as wide as they make them and the front as narrow as they can with a tritium tube in it.

The total cost for the sights, return shipping, and installation was <$140.

I am in no way affiliated with the company, I am not being compensated in anyway for this post/endorsement, I just really want to support a business that I think went above and beyond for me (as well as spread the word about some awesome sights for the PPQ).

Dawson's are great, I've peeked through them on an XDm and loved them. I'm not sure about the fit aesthetically on the PPQ but functionally I'm sure they are phenomenal. Did they remove the mini-brick under the rear sight?

Are you sure you're not affiliated in ANY, way? We were just discussing this one a separate thread

I am in favor of any additional support for the PPQ, sights, holsters, parts, love it!

Excellent first post, welcome to the forums!

The front looks like a standard trijicon right?

How are these better than the full trijicon three dots?

They look good, and I've seen a few shooters go single front dot / black rear. Although I don't really know why that's "better" than three dot... or what would be different about these

Would their front trijicon work with a oem rear?

I believe it's their own front sight, with Trijicon markings.

From their website page:

Can you please provide more information concerning the rear sight? Notch width? Notch depth? Thanks!

I did tell the Dawson people to post on here, so maybe that's what instigated the other thread?

I'm not sure if their front would work with factory rears, I'd call them and ask.

The rear notch is .140 wide, the front is .125 wide and .180 tall.

Also, the preference for a plain rear is that 3-dots can (and do, at least for me) make it confusing as to which dot goes where. With a plain rear, you find the front post and put it between the two other rear posts. Some people have the Straight 8 configuration on duty (not comp) guns, but as I couldn't get that done I have what I have (and am so far happy with it, however I have to go shooting with my PPQ to be sure).

Hope that helps!

As an aside, I thought I would have issues doing one handed drills on my tiny/smooth PPS night sights that come on the PPQ FE, no issues at all. So I understand these are better, but I personally had zero issues with the worst case sights...

I was doing so many one handed malfunction clearance drills from concealment during and after training that I wore a bunch of small holes in one of my favorite shirts
