Not a "holster maker" but ....

I've made a few and I'll prob make a black one and a tan holster in the next day or two. if I make a few would there be any intrest ? Here's how my last one turned out.

I'm thinkin 55 shipped for black and 57 shipped for tan

Looks good enough - how is the retention? The price would have to be competitive, since the $70-80 range gets you a quality Kydex holster from a number of manufacturers.

On my last 4 or 5 I've had to go back and release some of there retention because they were a lil to tight for me and made it very hard to unholster when not on the hip.. But it's no biggie just fine tuneing after its all together . I modeled mine after the raven concealments I paid to much and waited wayyy to long for.

I hate to say it, but realistically Kydex holsters should be really cheap. Buying the material in bulk is dirt cheap, so it's really just the time/manpower involved.

Retention is always tough. I know my first RCS holster for an old Springfield was a bit too light. Then my first KC was a bit too tight. The last three KCs have been fantastic.

What kind of repeatability can you manage making the holsters? I'd say you could get plenty of traffic here if you can knock them out within a week, and charge your price. If I didn't already have mine, I'd try one.

It "looks" like you make a quality holster.

Mig1 Unproven
If I may ask, what did you use for a press to form the mold around the gun?

I built a hinged press from home depot parts and got the foam from Texas knife kits.

I think the prices are pretty close to spot on for most holsters. Materials aren't 50% of cost. If it were then most prob wouldn't buy them. After all is said and done I'm making about 7-8 bucks per hour. At this point in time it's not very profitable just somthing I enjoy doing my week off work. I have however seen some company's that have no definition and really skimp on the kydex and I can't see how they can justify more than 25-35 per holster. Try making one and I think your opinion will have changed

Iyoob, don't get me wrong - what I'm saying is that the materials are relatively cheap, so it all comes down to how fast/quickly/well someone can pump them out. Some companies are starting to "mass produce" them, so costs should come down.

At the end of the day, unless you're a large company who puts out a LOT of these each day, the cost of the smaller makers is always going to be more.

I think your prices are right in line.

And I don't get how they mass produce them without watching the quality drop. I know they are but I just don't get it lol it's a very tedious process for me at least
