PPQ 9mm slide gap

Can you see the brass casing showing through the gap between the slide and the barrel here? I've never seen this in any of my other pistols and just wondering if this is normal. The round is fully chambered and the slide fully forward, yet there is a gap almost big enough to slide a dime or guitar pick into and touch the brass. Is your PPQ like this?

The gap has to be as wide as the rim, or it wouldn't work.

^^

Also, seeing the brass from between the slide and the frame is completely normal in my experience across multiple platforms.

That bit of tape makes your frame look a bit distorted, might want to consider that!

That wasn't tape. I took the photo through a magnifying glass which probably caused some distortion.

I'm not having any problems. Was just wondering if that is normal since it would seem to allow expanding gasses to escape through that gap. My Glock and my Beretta 92FS lock the chamber up tight with no gaps. No brass ever showing. This is the first time I've ever noticed one with a visible gap like that.

My P99c AS is exactly the same way. It's normal.

I've seen a number of Glocks with the brass being visible from the side. Which model are you referring to?

If I'm not mistaken, the Baretta slide/frame fit has the slide being "inside" the frame.. if that makes sense.

My Glock is a 30, but they all go into battery the same. The chamber end of the barrel locks up tight to the breach face on top, and to the extractor claw on the side. The Beretta 92FS actually has a notch cut into the chamber end of the barrel to clear the extractor claw so it can fit flush inside that "ring" cut in the breach face. In either case, it just looks like a tighter fit. I don't see any brass showing.

My PPQ is tight on top, but seems like that gap on the side is a little wider than I think it should be. I guess I'm expecting tighter tolerances since I'm a picky perfectionist.

I remember reading something about Glocks not having fully supported chambers in their barrels which caused some concerns about reloads with weak brass exploding through the unsupported areas. Got me thinking about that when I saw this.

Ingenious! Or time for a new camera? Haha!

Anyways, hadn't noticed before Rhodco, but you're always pointing out good stuff! Mines the same, works great!
