Casing marks on slide.
Hello friends,
I don't really consider this an issue, as it doesn't bother me too much, but I did want to see if anyone else is seeing what I am. I am at about 500 rounds down range with my PPQ .40, and sometimes the ejected casings hit the slide and leave brass marks. Sorry for the bad picture, but I think you can see what I am talking about. ![]() Like I said, the marks themselves don't bother me, but I do just want to make sure it isn't a sign of anything else. I have had zero FTFs or FTEs. Justin

Brass is soft, your slide is not. Definitely the brass rubbing off on the slide.
If it bugs you I would just rub it out with some solvent and a 'firm" toothbrush. Personally I wouldn't do it until it gets to be too much to handle, may be unwise to continually and aggressively rub/polish/whatever one specific section of the barrel. Aesthetics are nice, operation is even better though, happy she's ejecting for you.. could be worse! |

To answer your question- I noticed the same thing on my PPQ but not to your extent, round count is comparable.
Other pistols have had this issue from time to time.. if I recall someone at one time suggested a small amount of tape strategically placed when firing and removed when storing, don't see why not but just be careful, remove all the sticky residue, etc |

Thanks for the response!
Yeah it doesn't bug me really, so I'll just count it as character and proof that I actually use my guns. ![]() Justin

Totally normal.
If you leave a light coat of CLP on that area for a few days it will probably wipe right off - not by dissolving it but by penetrating under it and allowing it to float off. |

If you run a search on "brass marks," you'll find a variety of threads and posts on this issue in the P99 and PPS sections of the forum. It's totally normal.

My PPQ 9mm has these marks as well. I actually kind of like wear and tear marks on my guns. So to me, it's not an eyesore and nothing to worry about.

Yep mine is doing the same only it appears much worse than yours. Sent an email to Walther USA asking about it was was told to take it back to the LGS where I purchased it and if they thought there was an issue they (Walther) would take a look. I did, the LGS owner looked and said normal, no big deal clean it off and shoot it. I tried to clean it with oil and soft brush but no real luck, I am not worried about it really.
