PPQ .22
Unhappy

S&W-Walther has no intention of bringing the PPQ to the California market. They stated this specifically in an Email to me.

Mine came in via an Intra-Familial Interstate PPT. I have heard of several coming in via the SSE with Table Rock.

Mags are a bear...you can acquire P99, SW99 and Magnum Research mags. The top lip must be cut down about 3mm to clear the PPQ feed ramp.

I created my own permanent blocking mechanism for the mags that came with the gun.

PITA and all the cost associated doesn't begin to describe the process. I'm pretty sure I have the most expensive PPQ on the planet!

Good luck!

Kalifornistan is a pain when it comes to firearms. It's "roster" of guns is a joke considering that most of the guns on the list dont meet up with the qualifications anyways. It is more of an extortion fee companies have to pay to keep their guns on the list. There are so many companies that refuse to deal with CA just because of this.

I'm thankful to Table Rock Arms in Oregon for making it possible for me to get my Walther PPQ. Without companies like them, many of us would have to admire from afar the quality of this pistol.

Agreed. The "safe gun list" in my opion is one step closer to banning handguns in CA. The gun manufacturers have to pay to have their guns tested. If the gun passes testing, they have to pay to keep the gun on the list for a certain amount of time. When that time is up, they have to pay again if they want to renew the certification period. It's not about safety, its extortion made legal.

But you got to admit it was worth it. I paid $650 to get mine with the SSE and have no regrets.

I feel bad for you guys.. you know, they say California will eventually fall in the ocean, so maybe that, coupled with a new PPQ is the perfect reason to get out!

New forum member here and also a California resident. I'm placing an order for a 9mm PPQ on Monday through EBR Works in Newbury Park, CA. Of course, the gun will have to
have the SSE. They quoted me a price of $699 out the door (incl. DROS + taxes).

In the end I feel the nearly month long wait, the two 300 mile round trip visits to EBR (one to initiate the DROS, and another--10 days later--to pick it up), along with the relative dearth and high-cost of 10 round mags will be worth it.

Sometimes, I really wish I didn't live here...

I hear you there. The best mags to look for are the Baby Eagle mags because they cost about half as much as the Walther branded ones and they are the same magazine; made in the same factory by MecGar.

I spoke to Earls Repair Shop on Monday of last week and he stated that Walther does NOT make 10rd mags for the Walther PPQ. The Walther website says otherwise but I have yet to see actual 10rd mags for the PPQ that are available. The only website I've seen that list 10rd mags is waltherpistols.com but it just states "available soon".

Thanks for the heads-up on the mags. Just a few minutes ago, partly out of fear they would be out of stock soon and partly because I am giddy with excitement and anticipation about my PPQ order, I visited Midway USA's website and bought 3 of these:

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/128...nd-steel-black

Tell me (please) these are the mags you are referring to. They were $31.99 each.

No modification(s) of these mags are necessary to work eith the PPQ are they? I've heard some mags require 3mm to be shaved off the top so as not to interfere with the PPQ's feed ramp but I was under the impression these ones work flawlessly as is.

Please advise...
