9mm & .40
Did a search, did not come up with anything..
Curious which Walther fans are owners of both PPQ models in the 9mm, as well as the .40 and have ran some magazines through them. The 9mm has been flawless for me thus far and I love keeping my operating costs down (ammo). That said, it is always fun to have multiple calibers in the same platform, so my question is: does anyone own both the 9mm and .40 and have some insight they can offer? ![]() I know it is a very broad question, but a general compare/contrast would be excellent. I have heard owners of the .40 state it is a very "snappy", which is a characteristic often attributed to the .40 S&W, but I would love to know how it compares specifically to its 9mm counterpart on more than just recoil management. |

Not to hijack your thread, but a question for those who have both 9mm & 40. Can the 9mm barrel be shot in the 40 cal. slide ?
I have a 40 by the way. Recoil with 180gr FMJ round is not bad at all. The 155gr rounds are snappy in any 40. ( just my opinion) |

Maybe I am all there is that is man..LOL. I don't notice the recoil difference between the two. I shoot the same regardless. Groups look the same as well. I did trade the .40 for the 9 only because I have a crap ton of 9 ammo. maybe because my duty gun is .40 I don't know, I'm just not sensitive to it I guess.

Somebeach: 9mm and .40 barrel
Quote:
If it is anything like the P99 then you cannot use the barrels interchangeably... I've not handled both versions simultaneously, but I'm pretty sure that the PPQ, like the P99, is the slightly longer in the .40 to add weight to the slide as they share the same recoil spring. The barrels are different diameters as well, opposed to being machined out of the same diameter metal rods, so the 9mm will be sloppy in the .40 and the .40 will not fit the 9mm's slide opening. |

I don't own both ppq's, but I have shot a lot of .40 and 9mm. Slow fire, you're not going to notice much difference, atleast not to me. Rapid fire is when keeping shots on target becomes more difficult with the .40 as the muzzle tends to climb quicker and reset takes longer.
I've recently gotten rid of my other .40s in favor of 9mm, but I also have 10mm and .45. |
