Here is what he figured.

1) With some work, Glock suppressor sight could be fitted to the front. A rear one could then be milled into the rear of the slide in front of the RMR. Both sights would have to be milled/fitted along the sides too to fit the narrow profile of the slide.

2) The screws in the RMR were two far apart to mount into the slide itself, so it would require a slide adapter (an extended piece in turn fitted to the slide to give it more "meat" to allow the install. This would be cut, fitted, and serrated to fit and look good with the gun.

3) Then I'd have the whole thing Cerokoated etc.

It would be a lot of work vs. something like a glock which you just slot on suppressor sights, do minor mill/drill work and stick the RMR on top. Probably almost 300% more expensive.

$750 worth of optic and work on a $500 gun...and I'm not even sure I'd like it. Now, with my tax return coming up, maybe I'll end up changing my mind...but it can be done, but it ain't easy or cheap.

For those of us who are new to guns, what's going on here? Going to put different sights?

Going for something like this...

Installing a Trijicon RMR red dot sight on a handgun --- installing suppressor height sights which would allow a co-witness (much like running irons and an RDS on a carbine).

I told him I'll hold off for now. That's a good 3000+ rounds of ammo I could be training with. It was worth a shot.

Decided to follow your lead (thanks for doing the legwork on finding out that this can be done) and send in a PPQ and RMR to Mark next week. He's done an M&P/Deltapoint install for me in the past so I know he does good work.

Cool, let me know how it works out. I found myself going way over budget, but with my tax return to decrease the credit card etc. I may give it another go in a few months.

I'd like to see the job done first. At least he knows what it takes to do it now - after I sent him mine, so the idea is there, festering in his head.

Total investment of $750-800 including the optic. So yes, you can get around 3500-4000 rounds of 9mm ammo for that amount of cash.

I will likely still do the RMR at some point, it may just be 6-mos. to a year from now. My enthusiasm got well ahead of my budget.

PPQ with an RMR!

Walther PPQ - Page 28 - M4Carbine.net Forums

I'd suggest reading all of Lucky Strike's posts on this page, as there are malfunctions noted, however the pictures of a PPQ with an RMR mounted are towards the bottom. I'd follow the progress if one were interested in the concept.
