It came from the horses mouth
the front portion of the P99 mag is longer than the PPQ mags and can hit the bottom of the feed lip damaging it also see extremists post for the same observation

Picked up my PPQ today and checked my P99 mags in it and I will not be using them. The front lip of the P99 mags is higher than the PPQ's and would clearly bump against the feed ramp. My P99 was from 2007 for what it's worth.

Boy ! Walther sure knows how to take the fun out of buying a new gun. Now I am sitting on a pile of P99 mags that I cant use in my PPQ and I have to buy PPQ mags when Walther/S&W gets around to making them available. Sweet. |

I'm in luck here. My P99 that I bought recently had the same mag as that use on PPQ, except the finish. I bought two extra P99 mag from MR and they fit as well.

I ordered some of the Magnum Research magazines and they do have the lower front lip and work fine in the PPQ. So it seems like some P99 and MR mags will work and some won't. You just need to make sure that they are the right pattern.

From CDNN. They are hiding in the S&W section.
