You can probably start here.

Some websites to help PP/PPK owners ID their guns

For manuals you can try Earls
http://www.carlwalther.com/books.htm#Manuals

Gunbroker and Ebay oftentimes have them as well.

There is no list to date an Interarms/Ranger (=> Gadsden, Alabama, Mid-South Industries Inc.) gun, but you'll find a thread with reported serial numbers here. After some research (just for you ) I found a number near to yours (S000944): Test target date 8/9/83.

A manual for the Walther PP/PPK you'll find here. It's not exactly what you want but it helps.

It's possible that your PPK/S may have been made in Germany and imported by Interarms if a "Made In (West) Germany" is stamped somewhere on your gun. (Usually on the left side of the gun.)

However, if the words "Under License Of" is stamped above Carl Walther Waffenfabrik Ulm, then it was made by Interarms/Ranger in the U.S.

Any photos that you could share?

Steve, the serial number is not a Walther/Ulm number. It's Ranger...

Thomas: User MGMike offered some manuals of older Interarms/Ranger PPK/S for sale.

FS: Original Walther Manuals

Ahhh . . . I completely missed the OP's mention of the actual serial number.

It's a known problem, that sometimes people "pitching" with some problems but later were never seen for yonks. Hope, OP refutes me...

PPK/S

Sure could my friend.I been trying with special markings, different ideas & web sites but no luck.I am probably going about it all wrong? I took her to the range for the first time yesterday,,found that she likes to shoot a little high. The range owner says it came from Germany through Interarms???? which didn't help much.

His reference was that the pistol was made on the other side of the pond, but the importer was the Interarms company in Virginia.

Unless, of course, it was made here by Interarms/Ranger as opposed to merely imported by Interarms.

~1980 it was to expensive to import the PPK/S into the USA, so Interarms in cooperation with Ranger started to produce a licenced copy in the USA.

According to the serial number your gun is a stainless steel version, right? Walther/Ulm didn't made any stainless version.
