Micho,
I too recently purchased the same PPK/S you did and am very happy with it. However, I also experienced the exact same problem with the beavertail digging into my hand. I bought a pair of shooting gloves which prevented the beaver tail from breaking the skin, but it was still leaving a bruise. So, I changed my grip a little bit according to the link below. While that was written specifically for slide bite, moving my thumb position as the pictures show also seems to help lessen the impact of the beaver tail. PPK to small for hand: How to combat slide bite Happy shooting. |

Was in the local gun shop last night, talking firearms in general and Walthers specifically, asking abut the PPX, and the owner mentioned that he took in a .380 PPK/S in trade and decided to take it to the range. He ran 100 rounds of FMJ through it and showed me his hand. Even a week later, a couple of nice slide bite marks were still evident. Thing of it was, he's an experienced shooter and this was a S&W model, with the extended beavertail. He indicated that he had been thinking of keeping it -- älways liked the looks of that model" -- but decided to sell it after that experience. I suggested that he look at the edges on the beavertail, but he called it a rappy little bugger anyway and seems happy enough to get rid of it.

'Rappy little bugger' indeed. It's the nature of the beast in .380.

At this point so are all mine... and one is a blued Ulm proofed '74. A bit "younger" than yours, Milspec. 180XXX.
Currently looking for a Ranger made stainless PPK in .32 tho.
