Interarms recoil spring

Sponsored Links
Has anyone replaced their recoil spring with a woolf spring? if so what lbs spring did you chose? Also with my recoil spring I see that once side is open coil and the other side is a closed coil. I am assuming that you put the open side toward the muzzle and the closed side goes over the barrel and toward the grip. Thanks in advance everyone, and I tried searching for a little bit and didn't see what I was looking for!

The recommended factory rating is 20 pounds.

Direct from the manual:
Quote:
Put the recoil spring, small end first, on the barrel as shown in
Figure 21. (If you put it on the large end first, it can fall off
when you point it down.)

Actually, that's from the S&W PPK manual. I'll look up what the Interarms version says later and post it.

I had experienced occasional FTF's some time ago with a variety of American factory FMJ and JHP ammo. I read that European .380 acp is loaded just "a little bit hotter" than its U.S. cousins. Each FTF I experienced "appeared" to indicate that my slide was not fully recoiling and preventing a clean stripping of the next round.
I replaced the factory 20# with a Wolff 17# recoil spring and haven't had any issues since.
Coincidence? ... maybe.

Not sure I would use with Corbon or Buffalo Bore. I use the factory (wolf) reted 20lb . and a 17lb hammer spring. I have used this set up for years . 90% of my shooting is S&B Corbon and Buffalo Bore.

I did not see a final response to the initial question. Similarly, I recently purchased a mid-90's Interarms PPK/s. The recoil spring is closed on one end and open on the other, as it if a closed portion has been cut off one end. There is no small or large end as mentioned in the S&W manual. I have been using the reverse from above (open side toward grip) and it seems to function without issue, but it would be good to know which is considered the intended design.
