Need help valuing PPK

Sponsored Links
I'm new here and looking for some help. I recently acquired a PPK and have done some research with little success to find a value or anything further. Here is what I can find on the gun. Condition is no where near perfect but I bought it as a shooter...

Slide has Walther flag, Waffenfabrik Walther Zella-Mehlis (Thur); mod PPK
Walthers Patent Cal 7.65...this is all the left side, no frame marks that I can find.

Right side slide and barrel have matching N over what looks like a crown. Frame is marked with serial 1896**K...no other markings on right.

Muzzle has no markings

Back side of mag well is marked "RSHA IV R"

Mag has no serial, grips have crack at the top of left side but look original to the gun.

Thanks for any help.

You said some magic words....like "Zella-Mehlis" and "7.65". Too bad about the grips, but the gun is certainly worth investing in a replacement set. You have a pretty rare and sough-after gun. Too bad it's a little rough. I bet a guy named Searcher will be along here sooner or later and point out some sticky's here on the forum you can visit to research your gun.

Tell you what I'll do....I may give you what you paid for that old broke-down relic and you can go buy you a good gun that isn't broken.

Yes, autonut, that is awfully nice of you to take it off my hands at cost so that I do not lose any money. That said, I think I will wait for the next offer.

I have found it to be a 1939, but also that it is likely an RSHA (SS Police model), but what I found very interesting is that RSHA was formed in September of '39, so if this is truly an RSHA issued, it would have to be a very early issue.

You saw this, right?

Value? Year made? What do I have? Please start here first

You'll find some help in there, to be sure.

Thanks Searcher. I did see that info and that is actually how I came across the forum. I have not found a similar item sold at auction in my searches.

I understand Herman Goering's pistol just sold at auction for something like $220,000. I got outbid on that one too.

Don't worry. There has to be at least a couple hundred more of his pistols out there awaiting auction.
