Walther PPK

I'm a licensed CC'er in NC; with the availability of "short-barrel" ammo, over the past couple of months I've been looking at the Walther PPK as a spring/summer concealed carry. Being of 'slender' build I think it'd be easier to conceal than my Rock Island CS. Realizing this is the Walther forum, I'd be interested in any and all pros and cons regarding the Walther PPK, only. Thanks a lot for the help!

Hiya, Survivor!

This is my personal opinion, so do as you will... a 7.65mm PPK in stainless (an Interarms or earlier, not a "new" model) would serve well, as long as you can hit what you intend to.

The frame is slender enough to be easily concealed and the design has been time tested.

Lots of people here own and carry the PPK model for concealed carry protection. It's a reliable handgun, it's easy to conceal, and ammo in both .32 and .380 ACP is readily available. What's not to like? The bigger questions for you might be which manufacturer's model you want to own (there are four to consider) and which caliber you ultimately decide on. Oh, and a holster choice, of course.

I carry a .380 PPK as my backup on duty and as my CCW off duty. I love it!

I work out and attempt to stay as fit as possible. I wear my clothes very fitted. I constantly wear a PPK or a PPK/S (I rotate between three different pistols) in a Don Hume holster and have never had anyone notice. I also shoot mine a lot. Once you get used to the .380, there is nothing any better.

And what were the manufacturers of the three, if I may ask?

If it's not asking too much, could you please elaborate on the problems you experienced with each?

How dare you ask me that.

Kidding...

The first was a Smith and Wesson .380ACP blued PPK. Initially it had lots of problems feeding but after hand cycling the slide about 20,000 times it fed correctly. At that point the slide was pretty loose on the frame. It had intermittent failures to ignite primers, so S&W replaced it.

The second was another S&W .380ACP blued PPK. It also started out with feed jams.

The third is a Manurhin .32ACP blued PPK. It has feed jams as well. I am wondering if a new recoil spring will fix the problem on this one. On the S&W's you had to field strip it to clear it. On this one, tap, rack, bang works well. The feed problems happen every magazine.

I've owned about 10 other automatic pistols and none had any problems like my PPK's have.

I've owned German-French-American 92x) PP-PPK-PPK/Ss in .22LR, .320ACP, and .380 ACP and have had no feed or jam issues. Actually no issues of any kind.

I rotate a PPK/S in my carry rotation and am working a PPK in as well.
