Check the grips too.
The PPK grips are smaller and will fit your hand differently. In my household everyone seems to like the PPK grip better. The PPK is also noticeably lighter. I happen to have both and bought the PPK/S first because I found it first. YMMV Enjoy! |

I would let the caliber be the determining factor. PPK/S in .380 because the extra mass helps with the recoil. PPK for the .32 as it is slightly smaller and lighter, and the extra mass is not needed for that cartridge.

Agree with the above. The PPK is a little better pocket-pistol, but I like the PPK/S for general fooling around. I would also agree to choose it based on the caliber. The 380 is surely a very popular and abundant round, but many shooters prefer the 32 for which the pistol was originally designed to shoot. 32 can be a little more expensive, but you can get some pretty decent SD ammo in that caliber. And...the PPK/S does afford one more pill in a loaded gun.

I have more questions than answers...
![]() What are you going to use it for? Is this for self defense or a range toy? If for SD will you be carrying it? Are these Smith and Wesson or Interarms? Have you decided on .32 or is that just what they have in stock? Who will be using it (big, small, experience level)? Personally, I own 5 PPK/S models and only one PPK. All are in .380. But everyone's different...thus the questions.

Milspec is right as far as more questions.
If you intend to carry it as a CCW, then where you carry it could affect which one you purchase. Belt Carry either is ok, but the grip on the PPK/s will give you better control. Ankle same. Pocket carry, then the grip size gets important as the longer butt on the ppk/s tends to hang up more in back pocket carry like in levi's jeans. If it's for just the farm or range ick whichever one you feel most comfortable with. If ther'es a range close by that rents guns, check and see if they have one you can try before you purchase. Good luck you won't be disapointed with either one you purchase |

Another thing to consider is hand size; our range officer has paws rather than hands, and he prefers the longer /s gripframe, altho' the Smith & Walther extended tang is a help in this department. A further issue is the finger extension mag vs the flat floorplate; many here can't decide after years of experimenting, but it is still something to think about. Since we don't know the provenance of the gun you've looked it, it may or may not have both magazines. Tell us a little more. Moon |

At least for now, get the one that best fits you hand and eye and pocketbook. Just leep in mind that it won't be the last one you get. Before you know it, you'll start showing off like our friend Tanfoglio.
