TPH Quick Price Check?

I know nothing about the TPH. Can I get a quick price check on a Stainless 22LR? Well fired I may add.

An Interarms version then, being stainless. The only issue is that you don't see a lot of them advertised for sale, and many collectors/Walther enthusiasts who want one will strike at the chance to get a bite of the apple, even if it's already well-chewed. The gun alone: I'd say $350ish. The gun with the box and assorted goodies, including a spare mag: $450- to $475ish if it's in the condition that you describe ... though I'd feel better about those suggestions seeing a photo.

Thanks for the rapid response searcher. I know where one is at a local gun show and the guy has a "way too high" price on it. He has $675 which is a bit ridiculous .....I thought, but wanted to check. I may make any attempt to work him down a bit, but from $675 down to around $400 is a pretty big leap. The gun shows some significant wear on the barrel in the ejection port and has not been well cared for. Seems to function perfectly, but I will likely back away from it....even though I am watering-at-the-mouth for a pp-style 22 to go with my PPK/S 380 and 32.

I just had to try and get an opinion before tomorrow. I imagine I will just suck-it-up and let this one pass.

There are a couple on GB at the moment around the $475 range, which more-or-less confirms your thoughts on a "real" price.

That's about where I was the other year for mine, price wise.
It was LNIB, papers and the whole deal.
They are a neat little pistol, and well worth lusting after.

I likely will not wind-up with the gun today and I appreciate the input. It will make it much easier for me to pass it up at anything much over $375-$400. I am sure the guy won't reach that far and actually has little knowledge of what he does have. It's just the only Walther on his table and he thinks he has a jewel. I think he has a jewel also....but not worth $675.00. I will likely come home empty-handed with a clear conscious and better informed from you guys about the worth of the gun.

There are more fish in the sea, Auto'.
Doubt that the seller would respond to you printing out this thread or results from GunBroker, but it might be worth a thought.

The guy would not come off $625, so he took it back home. He told me that was "book price" and I asked him what book he was looking in. I almost asked what "comic" book, but he is a dealer that usually has tables close to ours, so I did not want to get too cute. My table-buddies have done a little business with him before and I did not want to ruin the relationship over one gun-deal. He will either find somebody that will pay that price, or bring it back to the next show and try again. No box, no spare mag....no paper work and a much-fired dirty gun to boot. I just think he thought he had me on a hook, but he was playing a 20-pound bass on a 5-pound line. If I want one that bad, GB does occasionally have them listed and in a lot better condition and better price.

Well boys (and girls if any)....I am now hooked on getting a Ranger TPH. I think it is because I was not able to purchase the one I mentioned above and just want to go stick a better one in the guys face at the next gun show. (Spite can be a horrible....but fun thing.)

Is the TPH basically a scaled-down PPK? Is it practically the same thing as the PPK/PPK/S in design....etc. I realize the mag release is on the heel, but that's about all I know along besides the fact that magazines can be a bit scarce.

Somebody tell me all you know about the TPH. I realize they can be "iffy" and ammo-sensitive.

The TPH was manufactured in German late in 1968 by Walther. It was not imported into the US because of the 1968 U.S. Gun Control Act which forbid the importation of small pocket pistols such as the PPK and TPH etc.

Importation of the PPK and TPH in the US, via US importer Interarms, was only for military and law enforcement and many police officers purchased them for their use.

The German made TPH was finished in blue and had an alloy frame weighing about 11.5 ounces. Caliber was .22 LR and 25 acp, all if not most were imported in .22 lr.

The Gun Control Act forbid importation but not manufacuturing small pistol in the US so Ranger Arms began manufacturing the TPH and PPK in the US.

I own both a Ranger Arms stainless TPH and German TPH both in .22 lr caliber. With high quality ammo such as CCI Mini Mag my German TPH is quite reliable and I have been carrying it for over 20 years.

As for the price of the TPH, remember this:

They are no longer made in the world and most likely never ever will.....

So I would base what you will pay or not pay on that....

Good information Alfonzo. You are correct.....NOBODY is making any new ones that I know of, I knew that much. These things are listed for close to $1,000 on GB right now NIB. I want to shoot-for one well below this price and may not refuse a $500 deal on a used one. I just could not bite on this other dealers deal at $625 and it was a dealer-to-dealer deal at that. My last few hours of research has turned my head a little. I think they are going to be higher than anywhere around $400-$450. It's that double-edge sword though....finding parts is likely out of the question and all the mag vendors I have checked on either don't have one or have them back-ordered and even unavailable in some cases. I guess if I do get one.....it will be for cleaning and looking at a lot more than it will be a daily shooter. BUT....it would look so nice lying beside my 380 and 32.
