Vintage German PPK/S Value

Sponsored Links
I am new to this forum and would like some guidance on determining the value of an older Walther PPK/S (blue) that I purchased around 1972. It is German made, 380 acp, and imported by Interarms. I have put less than 200 rounds through it and hope to sell it soon. It is in near mint condition with original plastic box, two mags, brush, manual and target supplied with pistol. I have looked at Internet prices and they range from $500 to nearly $1000 for a similar model. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Not that it matters, but I live in California where these guns (among others) are hard to come by. Thanks in advance.

The PPK/S had begun production in 1968 (for export to U.S. by Interarms) at Manurhin (France) under license by Walther (with German markings) only in .380 ACP prior to 1972. So your 1972-purchased PPK/S would be blued steel, manufactured between 1968-1972 and a very nice high-quality gun, but would not be so rare.

A popular gun web site currently lists four PPK/S (one with a low serial number) in 96%-98% condition for $595-$695.

If it helps I paid $400 for a PPK/S in about 95% condition, $525 for one in 99% condition (has a tiny scratch from the tool), and $695 for an absolutely new one that had never been removed from the plastic bag. All are .380 acp German versions dated 1972 or 1973 in the numbered box with test target, manual, and other accessories.

My suggestions is to post it here in the Trading Post section with lots of great photos...

Vintage German PPK/S Value

Thank you all for your great suggestions and advice. I will post some photos this weekend, here, to see what you think. I'm not sure how the percentage condition translates to my pistol but to me it appears in as-new condition, so I'm guessing it is in the 96%++ area, but perhaps you guys can be the judges after my post.

BTW, I also have a near-perfect S&W model 66 (2-1/2) that has been test fired only once(I used .38). Are there separate forums for that type of gun as well?

You'll want to seek happiness on the S&W Forum for that one; this forum is dedicated to Walthers. You'll also find forums for G-word pistols, B-word pistols, plus Rugers and Colts and lions and tigers and bears (oh my).

We're all looking forward to seeing your Walther. It sounds like a beauty.

Vintage German PPK/S Value

Just sold the pistol for $800 with no questions asked. Hopefully it wasn't worth more, but I'm happy and need the $$$.

I think you did well getting $800 for it. Don't fret, the deal is done.
