I have a PP that has been plated, probably satin chrome by the looks of it. I got it for 225.00, its in .380, and has become one of my carry guns. The reason for the plating is that it does have some minor pitting on the frame and slide, everything inside is fine, and it eats everything its fed, so no complaints here. Here's some pic's of her.

Sweet German PP...looks almost like a WWII Verchromt...

My turn...

1985 Manurhin .380 PPK/S with factory Durgarde finish (Brushed Chrome)

The Walther PP in the link Searcher posted is a Verchromt or satin chrome finish. It's a dull grey-white color as opposed to the "bumper chrome" type plating you'll see on many GI bringbacks.

Okay, so the Verchromt finish is similar to the hard chrome finish on Leighton's PP, at least as regards color and texture? I seem to recall that my buddy's gun is more of the glossy, slightly yellow color.
Again, how common were these? His is the only one I've seen, and I do haunt shows and shops.
And Leighton, I'll take back about most of my 'finished with a wire wheel' remark, at least as regards your gun. Looks great; whatever flaws, they don't show in the pix. I had Metalife put a hardchrome finish on some pistols for me, for rust resistance, years ago. They came out really well and were quite durable; I had the work done on nearly new guns. They were that flat, greyish color as well.
It's too bad no one in here has any interesting guns or knows a thing about them....
Thnx,
Moon

Moon, That one of mine was just me being lucky on gunbroker that day. I look about once a week at all the Walther PP's and PPK's searching for deals, and there she was with a buy now of 225.00. I couldn't hit the buy now button quick enough. I had seen one like her a couple of years prior but in .22lr. That guy wanted 600.00 for it. I also shop around on www.simpsonltd.com cause every once in a while you'll find a deal or two.

On mine up close you can see the pitting marks, but they don't bother me at all. She's a shooter, and besides you don't see many PP's in .380.

The NiVel does have a more yellowish color than my Durgarde chrome finish. According to an earlier post by MGMike, the NiVel (for Nickle-Velvet) finish was applied by Interarms after importation and before sale. I'm not sure how many were made but obviously less than the blued version. I've seen a NiVel .22 PPK/S online but I can't find it now. I'll post it if I run across it again...

Edit: I found the link but the photos are down...

Milspec's pistol makes me drool every time I see it, and I don't see it often enough. It's as good as anything Tanfogolio has ... don't you think?
