your PP is Walther/Ulm made after Walther finished the cooperation with Manurhin/Matra. Production started in 7/1986 with serial number 700001. You will find a proofmark (two digit letters) located on the ejection port. Here you will find the explanation. |

I have a ppk/s that has some misleading markings. The slide has the Eagle over N Stamp, The barrel at the ejection port is stamped 71, the serial # 147XXXS on the frame, but 147XXX with no S on the slide. It does say made in W. Germany and Ulm on the left side of the slide, and InterArms on the right side of the slide. I just don't understand the low serial # from Ulm? Any info is helpful.

It's normal, that the "S" suffix doesn't appear on the slide. And every model, PP, PPK, PPK/S and the different calibers for each has an own range of numbers.

Most websites mention that the serial numbers made in Ulm began with 700000 or so. I'm just trying to find out if this is a standard production or something rare? Trying to figure out how to post pics.

It's standard. Every PP series gun made till 1985 was produced by Manurhin/France including the Walther guns marked "Made in W. Germany". These guns were only rollmarked, hardened, blued, assembled and proofed in Ulm/Germany but according to german law they were "Made in Germany". Walther in Ulm itself made PP series guns until 1986 starting with serial number 700001.
Your PPK/S made in 1971 was produced by Manurhin.

Hi Guys!
My name is Ken and I'm from the Philadelphia suburbs. I've always loved Walther firearms, especially those I own & shoot. My favorite is my full size P88 which is a pleasure to shoot as well as to carry.
I've been a member of the forum for a while but only as a a passenger, since I've never posted before. I am an owner of a new (of course new in box with papers & target which all match) PPK Dural; Cal.7.65. Serial # is: 516967; vintage 1966. I purchased it for $3,000.00 (actually, $2,995.00) in March, 2010 and am wondering if any of you youngsters have a feel as to if its cash value is up or down from there. One thing's for sure; its beauty value is still way up there... Regards & thanks, Ken P.S. Don't forget to turn the clocks ahead this weekend! |

U crazy american guys pay three thousand bucks for a dural PPK?
![]() @crusty: according to the serial number it was build in 1944. The Walther logo on the grips is pre-manurhin style. Last edited by Magnum2; 03-29-2012 at 03:34 PM. |

Hello everyone. I'm new, from the Croatian, a collector of old watches and guns. If you can help: each PP / PPK if the time or before ww2 must be labeled Zella mahlis (Thür) because it is the name of the weapons factory that was destroyed by 1945. I personally believe that only by designated models have collector value. Then, PP / PPK was used mainly as a weapon of secret agents, but the Wehrmacht officers allowed to carry it as a standard weapon solely because of their small dimensions. Mostly models were made 7.65 mm and 9 "short, so WAR AND PRE WAR MODEL PPK in caliber 022 MAKE A SPECIAL PRESENTATION RARITY. I think that only PPK in caliber 022 could fetch $ 3,000 to more, but that's just my opinion ... Maybe I'm wrong because I have a PPK in caliber 022 in 1939. year, so I too subjective ... If anyone has more accurate data on the model PPK 022 please let them publish because I miss part of the "life history of my gun. Namely, after the second war the gun was supposedly "changed side", and in the hands of Tito's secret agent used to kill prisoners, civilians and opponent of communism. Finally, I apologize in broken English, I hope you have enough to understand.
thanks and hello |
