PK380 problems !!!
I only put 50 rounds through the gun, during that time I had a half dozen jams. The next time I went to the range, I loaded the mag. & pulled the slide back & the shell hung in the slide. The firing pin was stuck in the forward position & would not spring back. I just sent this gun back to S&W, they say it will take 4 weeks to get it back. When I get it, I will put it up for sale. I refuse to depend on a piece of JUNK to protect myself & my family. For now on it`s nothing but GLOCK`S for me.
P.S. If you value your life you will never buy a S&W product !!! |

I have a PK380 also. I have had ejection problems, loading problems and firing problems since the gun was new. I have used 5 different brands of ammo and the problems still exist. I just emailed S&W today to see what they will do about it. I traded in a perfectly good Bersa Thunder 380 which never failed to fire no matter what you put in it.

I have had problems with mine and found out it is very picky on what it likes to be fed. It has also gotten better after it has been broken in. It is a lot of fun to shoot and hope it works out for you.

I have used 5 different brands of ammo. The last box was Winchester in the white box. As of 75 rounds, I have had no misfires, but have had 5 failure to eject...... this really bothers me as I can't depend upon the weapon to defend myself if needed.
S&W returned my email today and is going to send me a shipping label to send the gun back to them. I wonder if they are going to acknowledge that it has a problem? |

Unfortunatley S&W put's it's logo on these pistols and doesn't seem to have a very good trackrecord for getting guns that work out the door first time. If it were just one or two, but it's the P22 the PK380 and remember the recall on their product improved PPK No to be fairto S&W they did issue a recall and made fixes. Also we all too often only hear about the problems. If S&W sold 50,000 p22's and olny about a hundred folks are complaining, then that would put it into perspective. It's really too bad that S&W won't import those pistols made in Hungary for the european market. I've had ahalf dozen or so FEG manufactured walther clones and they all functioned very well Something to be said for old world craftsmanship |

I have to say I echo your thoughts on the importance of reliability. I own a 9mm PPQ and haven't had an issue in well over 1000 rounds. That's pretty solid and there are many more stories like it. The P99 has an incredible track record as well. My G19 isn't, and hasn't, proved to be as reliable as my PPQ. I can't speak on the PK380, but the Bersa Thunder .380 is a great gun. I've never seen it malfunction. It fits well in the hand, a decent weight, accurate for what you're paying, and I'm buying one for my wife. I would trust it that much.

Searcher451, I didn't realize that the PK380 was actually a Umarex. Crap. I have one, brought it last year. I've only took of out once maybe shot a box or two through it. It shoots nice, a little left, and it seems promising. Nary a problem. I haven't spent enough time with to rave or complain. Regardless, I only bought it because my Sigs started outnumbering my Walthers so I figured I'd add a modern model to my collection. I knew I should've bought a PPS. I just always associate Walthers with smaller calibers. Anyone wanna' buy a barely used PK380? J/k

The interesting thing about the PK380 is that lots of folks really like them, and lots of folks are reporting them to be fairly solid little shooters. It's possible that Umarex has learned a lesson or two from its experiment with the P22. I don't know that I'd give up so soon on your 380, but it's sure not a PPQ or a PPS.
