P88 Magazines in P99?

Sponsored Links
Hello all,

Some of you may remember when I asked this summer why the feed lips for my P99 magazines were different from my one SW99 magazine. I found the answer-my "P99" magazines are actually P88 magazines (Never trust Ebay). This is a picture from the Earl's website:
The magazine on the right is the spitting image of my 3 misbehaving magazines. (I guess I should have paid attention to how different the floorplates are shaped...)

The two main differences that I can see are that the floorplate is shaped differently, and allows the magazine to seat into the magazine well slightly farther than normal. Also, as I mentioned last summer, the feed lips are slightly long. What risks would I be taking if I dremeled the lips and started using them? Also, are 10-round P88 magazines in any kind of demand?

All you will accomplish by "Dremeling" them is to ruin them for ANY use.

P88 magazines fit P88s. Period.

the walther p88 magazines are almost the same as the beretta 92 magazines.

you can use the beretta magazines in the walther but you need to cut a new notch for the magazine relaese.

there is an old thread about that here on the p88 section.

the p99 magazine body is too short to work with the p88. the p99 magazine body is the same length as the p88c magazine body. the p99 has a base plate that is thicker than the p88c so you can use the p88c magazines in the p99 but not the other way around.

FYI,
Use P88 mags only in P88 and P99 mags only in P99. That will save you any trouble in the future. As the buyer you assume responsibility for whatever you purchase.

Since no one sells mag springs for the p99 - I have tried Beretta 92 mag springs, and they work.

you're better off just selling the P88 magazines and buying P99 magazines instead of trying to modify the P88's....

Do only the P99 10 rounds mags say "P99" on the bottom? To me that is the best indicator of what mag fits which firearm.
