For me, that seems like a solution in search of a problem. (I keep my strong hand thumb positioned on top of my support hand thumb, and my initial impression is that something like that would either do nothing for me or interfere with my grip.) For someone accustomed to 1911s who is used to having their thumb positioned there, I can see where it'd have some appeal.
I've actually used the product many years ago on a glock 26 as it was a beavertail style. On that unit I trimmed off the thumb rests and only left the minimal to prevent slide bite. I see no benefit to them.
Being a 1911 shooter I thought this might prove interesting. However, it seems it would push your hand further down the grip allowing more muzzle flip and less recoil control. I will pass.
