Here is my story... I owned a walther p99AS 9mm and sold it...

six months ago. I'm a lefty and have been more interested in pistols with ambi controls. I saw the ppq, got excited, and purchased it. Great pistol, alot of fun at range. Trigger is very light and short. I'm a DA/SA guy and the .4 LOP combined with the 5.5lb might be too much for me to overcome. Haha. I don't know if I would ever be fully comfortable carrying it, so now I'm entertaining trying to trade for a p99as.

Do any of them come with ambi controls?

I would advise you to rethink trading the PPQ for a 99AS until at least you shot the 99AS. You'll take a hit on trade-in value on your PPQ. Unless funds are that tight I recommend you keep your PPQ and save up for the 99AS. Maybe even look at the Magnum Research version of the 99AS for less money. I have both the PPQ and 99AS and like them, but if I had to choose one to keep the PPQ would be it. It's that good.

Good advice to shoot both first, then decide. Another alternative might be the SW99, which can be picked up inexpensively these days. It's worth some consideration, in any event.

But selling one off is generally not a good idea; you'll want to replace it at some point, and you'll have to pay more to get it back than you'll gain by selling it.

For what it's worth, if I had to choose one of the other, it would be the P99 AS, without question.

Own a P99c AS, have handled and manipulated the trigger on the PPQ at a gun store.

Sticking with the P99, as I really like the inherent safety of a double-action first pull when carrying. But that's just me. Your mileage may vary. Trigger-wise, the PPQ feels almost identical to a P99 set in single-action mode, and there isn't enough difference in trigger reset to notice.

Thanks. Looks like they are gone now. So, the 77011 model # has ambi slide lock?

Yeah, I've had plenty of time with both. I owned an AS and sold it, per my thread starter, and now own a PPQ. I like the AS better for carry, no doubt. My problem, is I have to work around the wife. I've bought 6 handguns since January. She is starting to take notice. Hahaha...
