Those were from another thread and I removed the names, so I can see how it could be confusing. I've tweaked it a bit, which hopefully makes it clear.

I contacted Walther Germany concerning any potential changes to the P99AS, specifically any updates regarding the frame. The first quote is my inquiry, the second is the response.

Quote:
Greetings,

I recently read Walther will continue production of the P99AS in addition to production of the new PPQ. As an owner and enthusiast of the P99AS, it prompted my following question: Do you, Walther Germany, possess any plans or considerations of updating the P99AS frame to the even more ergonomic PPQ frame, while still retaining the AS trigger system?

I also ask the above question as I have noticed the P22 wears a new frame, similar in design to the PPQ; and I have noticed the P99AS and PPQ frames themselves, absent of sear housing assemblies and other small parts, appear extremely similar mechanically, although they are ergonomically and aesthetically different.

I know a few other Walther aficionados who may like to know the answer, and any information is appreciated.

Sincerely,

guymontag

No it's not scheduled to produce the P99AS in the PPQ design. Yes it's right that the complete P22 line was redesigned but not the civil P99AS. Sorry
Best regards

Thanks it's always good to get the real facts and Walther in Germany has given us the fasts on this subject.

If they're not planning on doing it, the only way to possibly make it happen is to fill their inbox with requests for it. Same for the idea of a PPQc.

That would have to be a VERY small inbox to fill.

Just to throw my two cents in on this subject, I've been hearing rumors of the P99 being discontinued since I founded WaltherForums nearly a decade ago; said rumors have been flying around since a month after it's release. Nothing to see here. Move along...

Amazingly, I haven't seen one in a couple of months. Maybe I'll go to the PPQ forum and start a rumor that it's being discontinued...

My local gun shop told me that Walther is discontinuing the PPQ and ramping up P99 production so that they'll have enough on hand when they take over U.S. distribution.

And I believe him, too.
