Question Opinions on XSSights Big Dot night sights

I've searched the forum but haven't found much info on these. I'm particularly interested in knowing if they will work on the P99c. The company web site does not list a separate model number for P99 vs P99c.

I assume the shorter slide would affect sight alignment, but don't know how significant this would be in practice. Looks to me that the factory sights on the P99 and P99c are interchangable as far as fit is concerned. Please correct me if that's not accurate.

Thanks for any info y'all could offer. These middle-aged meemaw eyes need some help with sight acquisition, especially in the dimness.

Been a lurker here for a while. Enjoy reading the AS vs QA camps positions. I have both, as do many others here, and like them both for different reasons, as do many others here.

There is no difference. It's the same with Glocks, if you look at the XS website. A Glock 17/19/26 all use the same sights.

The length of the slide won't affect the "alignment" of the sights.

Now, most people who have XS sights, that I've read reviews from, love them. They are a purely combat sight, so don't expect much accuracy at a distance. They're quick to catch the eye when you bring the gun up.

I'm in the minority, however. I tried them on my Glock 27 and I never liked them. I was always much happier and more comfortable with my 3 dot sights.

Odds are that you'll be happy with them. If you happen to know anyone who has them, it would be a good idea to see them in person before you order.

I like them...

I have the XS big dot sights on one of my P99s and really love them. Very quick, but also accurate if you 'dot the i' and then index off the top of the front sight.

But good luck getting some; the xssights shopping cart won't accept the big or small dot versions, and I can't find any in stock elsewhere.

If you do find a supplier - please let me know !

thanks for the feedback...

I am still sort of leaning that way.

The Smith&Wesson/Walther site has them listed (full price). I see what you mean about the XS site not going through. May need to call and see what the problem is.

I haven't found them anywhere else for any kind of discount.

Maybe I'll keep studying... that's part of the fun anyway.

Skydive, this is what I found out about the ordering glitch- direct from Bo at XSSights:

"It’s a hiccup. A couple of months ago we launched a new website and sometimes some sets have issues. This one is having one now it looks like.

Call me on the toll free order line 1-888-744-4880

Bo"

So they are available.

Ahh - brilliant; thanks for posting back - I had meant to call them direct but never got around to it. I am going to order an additional set.

I put a set of Big Dot Xcess sights on a 1911 I had.
They're great for quick target aquisition but not nearly as accurate just because the front dot is waaaay big.

I, too, have a set of XS Express sights on a 1911. I dislike them. It seems to me that XS is trying to correct a training problem (shooter not understanding when to fire with a coarse sight picture or body index alone, and when to use a precise sight picture) with a hardware solution, ie. a sight that encourages a rough sight picture by making precise alignment of the sight more difficult. I'd personally rather use a more standard type sight and fire the gun with a coarse sight picture if I didn't need much accuracy, and retain the ability for precise sight alignment should it be necessary.

I've been thinking about replacing that XS rear sight with one that has a "half moon" notch. Not sure how well that'd work though. Maybe I should just get a new set of sights for that gun? But then again, replacing the rear sight would be cheaper...

I have big dots on my Glock 23 and they work fine. I put them on my P99 and they shoot low. At 15 yards they shoot atleast a foot low. To hit where I was aiming at 15 yards I had to put the bottom of the rear sight's V where the front sight meets the slide. That's too much Kentucky Windage for me to deal with. I shot my Kahr CM9 from the same spot and put all seven shots in a group the size of a fat girl's palm. I put the factory sights back on and called XS Sights and Monty said sent them to him so they could be checked out. The post that goes through the slot in the slide was too large when I got them too. I did adjust this but didn't change the sight height at all. I told Monty that I had just as soon have my $120 back. I have also seen comments on YouTube that other people have had the same problem that I had with XS sights on their P99's. I intend to go Trijicon.

Had them on a P99 and HATED them. Replaced with Trijicon and all is well.
