The P88 was made from 1987 to 1992. Production on the P88C started in 1992.

The price depends on what comes with the pistols, if anything, overall condition, whether they are mechanically sound, etc. I've seen them offered for more. I've seen them sell for less. Generally speaking, the P88C is the better of the two. Walther noted some of the issues with the P88 and corrected them in the compact model. It's also worth noting that they are two completely different pistols.

So which one to buy? It depends on what you want to do with it. Range companion? Safe queen? Wall hanger? Concealed carry? Home defense? My advice is to get the one that most speaks to you ... if, in fact, you are committed to buying one over the other.

Hope that helps a bit. Welcome to the forum.

I have both and personally prefer the compact model from an ergonomic standpoint. Do they both come with the proper high cap magazines?

If My LGS got those in for that price I would have bought at least one of them. Probably both.
