Aw, man, that one really rattles my cage. I'm guessing that the grips are from Nill? I can't ever recall having seen one for sale ... what a beauty. Thanks for sharing your good fortune, jujonte.

I believe that the grips are made by Nill Searcher. I am the 2nd owner and this is the way it came. I just happened upon the deal, and had only seen a picture of one in "A German Legend" by Kersten. The picture in that book shows a blued Sport. The gun has never been fired and I have entertained putting it up for trade or sale but have never followed through. Glad you enjoyed the photos. ~J

That .22 version, I am willing to bet, was contracted for by Walther with Peters Stahl in Germany, who dominated a niche market for that sort of thing because of European gun law restrictions on the number of handguns one could own. That firm had developed .22 conversion units for a variety of guns including Walther, SIG, H&K, Hammerli and others. They were of very high quality, and commensurately expensive.

The concept was less successful in USA, where if anybody wanted a .22 they simply bought another pistol.

And there are some misguided souls (myself among them) who thought the P22 was a miniature version of the P99. What idiots.

That's interesting Mike. I am not surprised that you would know that however. I haven't had a lot of luck finding information on the P88 Sport. Even the larger Walther books like Kersten's only gives the pistol a brief mention. Thanks for sharing your knowledge yet again. ~J

Very good. Sue would like to run into one of these some day (and I'm not talking about the P22, either).
